Tokyo, April 18 -- UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-CTR) received information related to the study (UMIN000061300) titled 'Differences in muscle hypertrophy induced by single-joint and multi-joint exercises and their synergistic effects' on April 17.
Study Type:
Interventional
Study Design:
Basic Design - Parallel
Randomization - Randomized
Blinding - Open -but assessor(s) are blinded
Control - Active
Primary Sponsor:
Institute - Ritsumeikan University
Condition:
Condition - Healthy young individuals

Objective:
Narrative objectives1 - To compare the effects of single-joint and multi-joint exercises on muscle hypertrophy and to examine the potential synergistic effects of their combination.
Basic objectives2 - Efficacy
Intervention:
Interventions/Control_1 - Participants will perform a resistance training program twice weekly for 12 weeks. One leg will be trained using a single-joint exercise (knee extension), while the contralateral leg will be trained using a multi-joint exercise (leg press). Each training session will be performed with a prescribed number of repetitions and sets for each leg.
Interventions/Control_2 - Participants will perform a resistance training program twice weekly for 12 weeks. One leg will be trained using a combination of single-joint and multi-joint exercises within the same session, whereas the contralateral leg will be trained using the same exercises distributed across different sessions. Each training session will be performed with a prescribed number of repetitions and sets for each leg.
