Stage: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding releasing device of a structure which can make the projection length of an expansion mechanism from a member shorter after a plurality of members are switched from a holding state where they are serially bound to a releasing state.SOLUTION: A holding releasing device 100 is for switching between a holding state where a plurality of members 10 are serially bound not to be displaced from each other and a releasing state where the members 10 can be displaced from each other. When a fixing releasing unit 40 is operated to switch from a fixed state to a released state, binding of a first member 11 and a second member 12 is released to enable mutual separation and displacement of the members 10. An expansion mechanism 30 is changed to be shortened by biasing of a biasing unit 50.
