Stage: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce electric power consumption of a processing circuit that performs a measurement using a sensor.SOLUTION: A measurement device 10 comprises a processing circuit 30 that measures a position of a valve body of a valve based on an electric signal from a sensor 20 which converts the position of the valve body into the electric signal (sensor output) and outputs a converted electric signal. The processing circuit 30 has multiple operation modes which include: a measurement mode in which the position of the valve body is measured periodically; and a power saving mode which has a lower measurement frequency and a lower average electric power consumption per unit time than the measurement mode. The processing circuit monitors whether or not a changing commencement of the position of the valve body is present based on the electric signal from the sensor 20 during the power saving mode and uses detection of the changing commencement as momentum to transition from the power saving mode to the measurement mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 (Grant)
