The smoothing agent (A) contains an ester compound (A1) including a branched ester compound (A1-1), where the branched ester compound (A1-1) is an ester compound having a branched chain structure in each molecule. The ionic surfactant (B) contains a carboxylic acid compound (B1), where the carboxylic acid compound (B1) is at least one selected from N-methylglycine derivatives and N-methylalanine derivatives having a C8-20 acyl group in each molecule. A content of the ester compound (A1) is 15 mass% or more based on mass of the nonvolatile component of the synthetic fiber treatment agent.
