Stage: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical resonator type light-emitting device of which the lifetime is prolonged by suppressing a rise of a drive voltage during long-term electrification.SOLUTION: A vertical resonator type light-emitting device comprises: a semiconductor structure layer including a substrate of a gallium nitride based semiconductor, a first multilayer film reflector, a first semiconductor layer of a first conductivity type, an active layer and a second semiconductor layer of a second conductivity type; a translucent electrode layer which is electrically in contact with the second semiconductor layer in one region of a top face of the second semiconductor layer and insulated from the second semiconductor layer in the other region surrounding the one region; a metal conductor layer formed on the other region of the top face of the translucent electrode layer; a second multilayer film reflector covering one region on the translucent electrode layer; and a translucent insulator layer disposed between the second semiconductor layer and the translucent electrode layer in the other region. The translucent insulator layer includes an inner edge having a step outside of one region. The second semiconductor layer includes an inactivated region in which an impurity is inactivated.
