TOKYO, April 13 -- Prime Minister and His Cabinet issued the following information:
On April 13, commencing at 15:00 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, held a telephone meeting with H.E. Mr. To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
At the outset, Prime Minister TAKAICHI offered her congratulations to Secretary General and President To Lam on the General Secretary's reappointment and on his assumption of the office of President, and stated that, amid the increasingly severe strategic environment in the region, Japan is willing to further strengthen relations with Viet Nam, which upholds "strategic self-reliance". In response, Secretary General and President To Lam expressed his gratitude and stated that he will work to further strengthen the Viet Nam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The two leaders discussed the recent developments of Middle East situation and concurred on cooperating to strengthen energy resilience with the view of impact on Asian economy. The two leaders also exchanged views on regional issues such as the South China Sea, and the response to North Korea, including the nuclear and missile issues as well as the abductions issue.
