TOKYO, Oct. 1 -- Japan Patent Office issued the following press release:
The Japan Patent Office (JPO) provided examiners of the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) with a training program on examination practices in the field of Organic Chemistry in response to a request from MyIPO for a total of three days, from September 24 to 26, 2025.
From the JPO, one International Training Instructor of the Global Patent Academy (GPA) with extensive practical experience in patent examination served as an instructor, and one junior examiner supported the training program as an assistant. From MyIPO, 20 patent examiners participated in the program.
The participants were assigned to work on case studies using realistic case studies based on actual patent applications and performed prior art searches utilizing J-PlatPat. They deepened their understanding of effective and efficient prior art search and determination methods unique to Organic Chemistry field through case studies. Feedback from the participants included comments such as "The steps required for conducting patent examination were clearly explained. I was able to acquire extensive knowledge and various approaches necessary for performing patent examinations."
The JPO will continue to provide cooperation in patent examination practices to examiners in Malaysia and other emerging countries where further business expansion of Japan's companies is expected, thereby supporting the development and strengthening of examination systems in those countries.
