TOKYO, Sept. 16 -- Prime Minister and His Cabinet issued the following highlight:
On September 16, commencing at 2:40 p.m. for approximately 50 minutes, Mr. ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, President of the Republic of Serbia, who is visiting Japan as an official Guest of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
* At the outset, Prime Minister ISHIBA sincerely welcomed President Vucic's first visit to Japan on the occasion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, and mentioned that he is willing to strengthen cooperation with Serbia, a cornerstone of the Western Balkans, amid an increasingly severe international security environment. He also expressed satisfaction that agreement in principle has been reached on the Japan-Serbia Investment Agreement. He highlighted the significance of more than 30 Japanese companies' facilities have been established in Serbia. He then expressed his expectation for an even more vibrant economic partnership between the two countries.
* In response, President Vucic stated that he praises the sincere and responsible role Japan has been playing in addressing various international challenges and would like to continue strengthening cooperation in various fields to further develop the friendly relations between the two countries.
* The two leaders concurred on continuing dialogue to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including the economic relationship.
* The two leaders also exchanged views on various issues of the international community, including the situation in Ukraine and their policies towards North Korea including the nuclear and missile issues as well as the abductions issue, and confirmed that the two countries will continue to engage in close dialogue.
