OUTCOME OF THE TENTH MEETING OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE OF THE JOINT CREDITING MECHANISM BETWEEN VIETNAM AND JAPAN

TOKYO, Oct. 20 -- Ministry of the Environment issued the following news:

Outcome of the Tenth Meeting of the Joint Committee of the Joint Crediting Mechanism between Vietnam and Japan

1.　On October 16, 2026, the tenth meeting of the Joint Committee (JC) of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) between Viet Nam and Japan was held online.



2.　At the JC meeting, revision of JCM rules consistent with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement was adopted.



3.　The Ministry of the Environment will cooperate with partner countries to implement the JCM consistent with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, while also working to expand and accelerate specific projects.

　The Joint Committee (JC) is established on the basis of bilateral document of the JCM and consists of representatives from Japan and a partner country. It serves as the decision-making body responsible for adopting rules and guidelines, approving methodologies, registering projects related to the JCM, and notifying national governments of the amount of JCM credits issued.

　This was the tenth meeting of the JC, where revision of JCM rules consistent with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement was adopted.

The Vietnamese and the Japanese Co-Chairs delivered opening remarks.

2. Rules

Revision of JCM rules consistent with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement was adopted.

　Going forward, JCM projects in Viet Nam will be implemented consistent with Article 6, based on the revised JCM rules. The revised rules and the meeting report were posted on the JCM website (https://www.jcm.go.jp/jc/).
